Call me nuts, but I think the phenomenon of graffiti on train cars in the last 10 years has made them far more interesting. At one time trains were interesting to watch, but now with all the cars looking almost identical, watching a train go by gets a bit boring.
What I find myself watching for now is the graffiti on the cars. These are modern day billboard reefers!
Lets face it, it is the most elaborate graffiti job that gets noticed when a train goes by. I frequently get a chuckle when one of the mainstream magazines prints a photo of some amazing paint job on a car, and always uses the line “while we certainly don’t condone graffiti, check out this one!”
